For cruise ships, cargo vessels, offshore platforms, and high-speed craft, fire is the second-greatest threat after sinking. Narrow compartments, vertical passages, enclosed engine rooms, and hot metal structures demand tactics entirely different from land-based building fires.
Firefighters often enter at the hottest point and work downward — this reverse-advancement logic only becomes muscle memory through repeated drills in realistic hull structures. Classrooms or ordinary building floors rarely recreate hatches, ship doors, and engine-room routes.
